I thought I would check to see if I might catch the legendary Buena Vista Social Club while I was there, and to my amazement, they&#8217;re beginning a U.S. tour next month, starting in Tucson! Incredible!!!\u00a0I postponed my Cuba trip a few days to make sure I would not miss these legendary musicians.<\/p>\n<p>The 15-member lineup includes Latin Grammy Award winners Omara Portuondo and Eliades Ochoa, the incredible trumpeter Guajiro Mirabal, and la\u00fad virtuoso Barbarito Torres, all of whom are original members of Buena Vista Social Club. \u00a0Opening for the Orquesta will be one of Havana\u2019s most highly praised pianists and one of the hottest rising stars on the international music scene, Roberto Fonseca. Classics include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/M0RvILTn73Q\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen title=\"El Reloj de Pastora\"  target=\"_blank\">El Reloj de Pastora<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FxbwdK2Pru4\" title=\"Deuda\" target=\"_blank\">Deuda<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/24458616\" height=\"281\" width=\"500\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/24458616\"  target=\"_blank\">Buena Vista Social Club presents Manuel Guajiro Mirabal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Eliades Ochoa is a legendary tres player and singer. He is considered one of the most important Cuban &#8216;soneros&#8217; of all time and guardian of traditional Cuban music, and he plays regularly to sold-out shows worldwide. <\/p>\n<p><em id=\"__mceDel\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QgDdmblx_mg\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Barbarito Torres provided one of the many unforgettable musical moments on The Buena Vista Social Club album, namely, his la\u00fad solo on the classic \u201cEl Cuarto de Tula.\u201d The la\u00fad is a 12-string instrument of the lute family, emitting, especially on its high register, a piercing, metallic tone that is perfect for fast, single-note improvising. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EWIRr9BUkt0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Good times!!!
